Joint Health and Safety Committee Training Part 1
Build foundational knowledge of JHSC roles, legal responsibilities, hazard recognition, and workplace inspection procedures.
In part 1, you will learn about:
- relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines
- your legal rights and responsibilities as a JHSC member
- common workplace hazards and key steps to addressing them
- how to conduct workplace inspections and incident investigations
- how to respond to employee health and safety complaints and suggestions
- how to function effectively as a JHSC member
Note: JHSC Certification Part 2 must be completed within 12 months of JHSC Certification Part 1.
Joint Health and Safety Committee Training Part 2
Practice identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards, and develop draft action plans and recommendations tailored to your organization.
In part 2, you will learn about:
- relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines
- minimum 6 workplace hazards particular to your work environment and their potential to cause injury or illness
- how to effectively recognize, assess, control, and evaluate workplace hazards
- how to prepare and complete an action plan

We offer JHSC part 2 sessions for all workplaces, as well as dedicated sessions for four public sectors: healthcare, government, public safety, and education.
Joint Health and Safety Committee Refresher Course
Refresher training is mandatory every three years to maintain your certification. Take our one-day JHSC refresher course to review core concepts, address legislative updates, and reinforce hazard recognition.
