The program has over 40 topics to choose from spread across three levels – foundation, intermediate and advanced. Completing topics can help you reduce the chances of workplace injuries and illnesses, support the psychological well-being of employees and boost productivity. The program offers a recommended pathway for small businesses and businesses new to health and safety. Businesses with mature health and safety programs can focus on advanced topics that are new to their business to make meaningful improvements to their workplace.

The amount you earn in rebates is based on the number of topics you complete and your WSIB premiums for the previous year. You can complete up to five topics in each health and safety action plan. Plus, you’ll receive an extra $1,000 every time you have an approved new health and safety action plan.

How It Works
1. LEARN
Register for an upcoming WSIB session near you to better understand the Health and Safety Excellence program and the business case for health and safety, or email excellenceprogram@pshsa.ca with any questions.
2. JOIN
Register today by completing the Application and Service Agreement and submitting it to ExcellenceProgram@pshsa.ca. Visit the WSIB website and choose PSHSA as your approved provider. Your organization will be required to complete an assessment and select 1-5 health and safety topics to work on over 12 months.
3. DEVELOP
Learn about, develop and implement your selected health and safety topics – the building blocks of the program – with support from PSHSA. The program’s flexible timelines allow you to work at your own pace.
4. DEMONSTRATE
Submit evidence of the work you’ve completed for review by PSHSA prior to final WSIB validation. A WSIB validator will then review your program documentation and assess if you have met the program requirements and completed your topic(s).
5. ACHIEVE
Receive rebates and recognition for your health and safety performance! Financial and non-financial rewards are earned based on individual performance. Note that financial rebates are available for Schedule 1 firms only.

- Firms with <$100,000 in Premiums: $1,000
- Firms with $100,000 to $250,000 in Premiums: $1,500
- Firms with >$250,000 in Premiums: $1,800
