Private delivery enables workplaces to provide training in the way that works best for them. This flexible option makes training groups of learners easy, allowing you to set the date, use example training scenarios based on your workplace, and choose how the training is offered. A knowledgeable health and safety consultant will deliver the training through your choice of medium: virtually or delivered in-person at your workplace.

Basics

This 2-day course covers the second part of the training required for you to be a certified member of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) by addressing significant hazards and issues specific to your work environment in the Government & Municipal sector. Combined with Part One, this instructor-led training leads to certification under the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s guidelines.

Course Content

In this course, you will learn:

  • The relevant legislation, standards and guidelines
  • At least 6 specific workplace hazards particular to your work environment and their potential to cause injury or illness (i.e. musculoskeletal disorders, chemical agents, workplace violence and harassment, slips, trips and falls, psychological hazards, electrical hazards)
  • How to effectively recognize, assess, control and evaluate workplace hazards
  • How to prepare and complete an action plan

Who should take this course?

Applicable to all workers, this mandatory course is relevant to all Ontario workplaces in the Government & Municipal Sector.

JHSC members who want to become certified, regardless of any previous experience in health and safety. Workplaces that regularly have 20 or more employees must ensure at least two personnel have completed JHSC Certification training.

Delivery modes

Our JHSC programs are available through two delivery modes:

  • In-person instructor-led — have your workers trained in-person at your workplace, providing an engaging live experience with no need to travel and in a familiar environment.
  • Virtual instructor-led — training is held virtually with our trainers in a live session, allowing your workers to join and participate in their training from anywhere.
